L&S 3 - Festival of Regional and Minority Languages
We are extremely proud to announce that our project “L&S - Festival for Regional and Minority Languages” has been selected by the Executive Agency of the EU Commission Culture, Education, Training and Sport and has been listed in the Life Long Learning Program.
The
aim of the project is to valorise the results of the previous “Languages meet Sport” 1 and 2 projects and transfer them to the area of regional and minority languages.
The Festival will collect European best practices promoting regional and minority languages through sport and physical activities. The Festival will feature a conference, workshops and sport, language and games sessions and will take place in October 2012 in the region Friuli Venezia Giulia. The program will be published soon on our website:

150 years since the buiding of the Italian State – Conference in Vienna
We were invited by the Italy-Austria Association in Vienna to present a lecture celebrating 150 years since the building of the Italian State.
The presentation by prof Franco Del Campo was entitled
“The making of the Italian Constitution: the constitutional miracle: June 2nd, 1946 – December 27th 1947.
It took place in the building of the Austrian Parliament in front of a qualified audience of Italians and Austrians, who attended with great interest and participation.

Expolingua Portugal
We have been invited by the European Commission to present our projects “Languages meet Sport” and “Swim the Language” at EXPOLINGUA Portugal.
The Fair of Languages and Cultures was held in Lisbon on 3
rd – 5th November. Parallel to the fair, which featured expositors from many education and cultural organisations, EXPOLINGUA presented a rich program of conferences, seminars offering an overview of the recent developments in the area of languages and communication.
In front of a wide audience of students and teachers we presented our projects promoting language learning through sports and concluded by singing and dancing all together “Keep the ball rolling” a song which invites people to learn languages, break down barriers an meet the citizens of the world.

L&S 2 - Intercultural Dialogue for Inclusion
The second European Conference “Languages meet sport” 2010 and the “L&S Challenge for Inclusion” confirmed the value of a project that combines language learning and passion for sport. The event had an extraordinary success of audience and high media visibility. L&S friendship tournament “Challenge for Inclusion” was a festival of languages and sport: children of different languages and cultural backgrounds met in the wonderful Piazza Unità d’Italia in Trieste and played using the universal language of sport.
The closing event witnessed the presence of Francesco Toldo, former
goalkeeper of the Italian national football team and now ambassador of INTERCAMPUS, who presented the new INTERCAMPUS project in Sarajevo. You can see the Conference program and Challenge pictures on our website: http://www.languagesmeetsport.eu/

Grundtvig Contact Seminar
We have been invited by the Italian National Agency to the Grundtvig Contact Seminar organised at Villasimius in Sardinia from 6th – 10th October. The objective of the seminar was to foster Learning Partnerships among organisations working in the field of adult education.
More than 80 delegates from all European countries took part in the event: we were divided into working groups with objective of developing future projects in the area of non formal education.

Conference in Verona – Diversities in Oncology
We were invited by the Italian Association of Medical Oncology to make a presentation in the Conference “Diversities in

Oncology” which took place in Verona. Prof Ariella Cuk’s presentation was entitled “Language differences in medical communication” highlighted the potential language barriers generated by cultural differences.

Languages meet Sport
Our project Languages meet Sport has been selected and entered into the Life Long Learning Programme of the European Union.
The objective of the project is to organise the first European Conference on Languages and Intercultural Dialogue through Sports. The Conference wants to provide a forum for all those who work in the field of education, culture, media, sports and public institutions and in this way offer an opportunity for the participants to meet the representatives of the EU Commission and Agencies and discuss new actions to be taken at local and national levels.

The aim of the conference is to highlight how sport can play an important role in language learning and intercultural dialogue. Sport communicates a sense of belonging and observance of rules and can therefore contribute to the understanding and appreciation of cultural differences.

Languages meet sport Conference will be held in Trieste (Italy) on 16th and 17th October, 2009.

Projects’ Meeting a Bruxelles
We were invited to attend the Projects’ Meeting organised by the ’Executive Agency of DG of Education and Culture which took place in Brussels on 9th and 10th February 2009.

The meeting was very successful and it served as an important networking session for the 300 project coordinators and representatives of the EU Commission and Executive Agency. The EU Year of Innovation and Creativity 2009 was presented at the meeting, project administration and financial procedures were discussed and communication strategies for the promotion of the selected projects were presented.
The Conference Languages meet Sport was welcomed heartily by the audience when it was presented during the afternoon workshop sessions.
